At the beginning of this year, the people of Pollocks (Josef Valentino, Nantaya and Callum Turner, to be precise) set themselves up as a web-based platform for everything fresh and creative happening in London. The trio proved to have a keen (perhaps beady? hawkish?) eye for talent in all its forms, as is reflected by the menagerie of individuals they have helped to promote. All this as an 18-year-old A-level student, in the case of Mr Valentino. Makes you sick, doesn't it? If you can swallow your envy it's well worth heading down to Carnaby Street anytime from Friday until 6th July to gorge yourself on a feast of London-based ingenuity. The Blank Canvas event, billed as a celebration of creativity, is a testament to the number of pies Pollocks have fingers in – fashion, music, art and photography all play a part and their representatives range from London staples such as Rankin and Annie Lennox to new discoveries such as the ever-expanding FRART collective. The event is completely free and if you want to make a (presumably wise) investment, ten pence from every pound spent on artwork will be donated to the Breast Cancer Campaign. The event runs all day but if you go from 6.30pm onwards you can catch the open mike sessions, too.
