London Kicks are pleased to announce that we will be at Momiji and
Don't Panic's exclusive judging event on Thursday 3rd April at The
Leonard St. Gallery.
Momiji are renowned for their message dolls, each which have a space
in its base for a tiny secret message. Momiji and Don't Panic have
been keeping themselves busy, searching for 2008's most talented up
and coming designer. Early this year they challenged budding designers
to create their own momiji doll. The entries were whittled down to a
top ten shortlist by the general public, who voted for the designs on
Don't Panic's website. The winning designer's three limited edition
dolls for cult brand Momiji are to be sold exclusively in Selfridges
this autumn. If you thought that was not enough the winner will also
walk away with £1500!
Members of the judging panel aside from Don't Panic and Momiji will
include Mr Jago, the world renowned street artist and founding member
of the Scrawl Collective, Victoria Young, Fashion Director and Tim
Clifton-Green, Senior Fashion Editor from British fashion superglossy;
Pop magazine.
The idea that sparked this collaboration came about when Momiji
stumbled across a Joanna Zhou poster in a Don't Panic pack last year.
Momiji could not wait to work with the Manga artist and immediately
commissioned her to create a new range of dolls. Dazed and Confused
were taken aback by the collection; so much so that they ran an
exclusive on the dolls.
Keep an eye out for the exclusive footage from the judging event
including interviews with the budding designers, judging panel and
lucky winner on London Kicks TV.
