Paris Mens Fashion Week

It hadn't occurred to me that Paris in June would be hot. Really hot. In the audiences, beads of perspiration ran down latex Balenciaga jerkins and black Prada bibs. Fans and invitations fluttered in every front row to fend off potentially make-up ruining heat levels. There was a pervasive smell of opulent, delicate fabrics slowly being conquered by indefatigable body odour, and a bitter taste in the air from the furious chain smoking generally adopted in the frantic seconds before and after each show.

Vuitton Cruise

Vuitton Resort S/S 09 is a pretty, wearable counterpoint to the Grace-Jones flecked sculptural shapes of A/W 08. That's partly what resort (or cruise, or pre-collection- sometimes I lose track) is all about- clothes that push an idea from the designer, but are more wearable, quietened-down, therefore covetable.

Tanya Ling illustrates

Tanya Ling is not a conformist; her drawings are not the arch typical fashion illustrations of forgettable beautiful women instead a slight hint of her, deep melancholy filled eyes set alongside her ghostly figures. Tanya studied fashion design at St Martin's college of Art but changed direction to becoming an illustrator.
