Leona Clarke is a Graphic Designer who has also branched out into Fashion Illustration. Her background in Graphic design is varied as are her influences for Illustration.

Coming from the most artistic of backgrounds, with an Artist mother and siblings who study Graphics and Fashion, Leona has been drawing since as far back as she can remember, "the first drawing I did that I remember being proud of is of the Micky Mouse wizard from Fantasia". She studied to become a graphic designer at Chelsea College of Art. But her true love for fashion illustration shone through and she hopes to one day become a full time illustrator to luxury clients.

Always an admirer of girly fashion illustration Leona looked up to artists such as Miss Van, Fafi, Julie Verhoven, Liselotte Watkins.`Leona also draws inspiration from sources outside of the illustration world, these include Nova magazine, Big hair, Blythe Dolls, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Biba, Lula magazine, photographers William Eggleston and Tim Walker. She also has a penchant for all things sweet and girly such as cupcakes, cherry blossom and kittens!

Leona uses a variety of media, she draws in her moleskin diary with rotering pens everyday and then scans her favourite illustrations and redraws them in Adobe Illustrator, "I don't like my work to look too obviously like vectors but find it the best way to colour as my painting skills are a little out of practice."

Leona has recently been selected to appear in this years 'CURVY' a book of female illustrators released by Yen Magazine, released this coming April... so pre-order your copy before they fly off the shelves!
