Like many accessories such as the bag and watch the sunglasses have decided to forgo their practical application as their unique selling point.  Accessories to your get up are now more so than ever a symbol of status or trend.  For example wearing a pair of mock Ray Bans means you are probably part of the Shoreditch set.  An extremely large pair of glasses worn may mean you are married or at least want to marry a footballer.  Or sunglasses worn all day every day means your name is Bono and you are a tit.

With the fact that now more than ever sunglasses are more than just an accessory Raf Simons in collaboration with London based brand Linda Farrow has created a line of sunglasses to sit along his Spring-Summer range.  Raf has taken the current trend much further and decided to create a line that also fits in with the silhouette if the suitor.

The idea behind the range is to create something with an ode of exploration about it.  This being in opposition to our current dot COM generation who have everything at their fingertips, but are devoid any practical experiences of what they see on the screen in front.  Far from being a tyrannical rant on Mr Simons' part he has a valid point.  Almost all of us seek the safety net of our computer screens.  Whether this is by way of checking the prices of holidays you never book or deciding to stick your best picture up on a website to find a mate rather than heading out to do it yourself.

To his credit the sunglasses reflect this, designed in all manner of colours, shapes plus heavily featured there is something quite tangible about them.  Large and brash it appears the sunglasses are exploring the contours of its master's face.  So maybe we should take Raf's advice, don his sunglasses and go on an adventure.  Well maybe tomorrow because it is raining and there is a (1) next to my Facebook inbox.
