Wanted, out on June 26th, is an action-packed assassin-fest starring Angelina Jolie. Fairly self-explanatory. She looks pretty. She fires guns. She has a silly name (Fox, in this particular case). But this time round she does all these things in a genuinely good thriller, which also boasts Morgan Freeman, Terence Stamp and James McEvoy. There's lots of Matrix-style effects for people dodging bullets and dangling out of cars, for those who aren't utterly bored of these cinematic tricks by now. But everyone loves an anti-hero and James McEvoy's Wes is about as anti as it gets. Indeed, the general consensus on this one seems to be that you go in expecting, perhaps even wanting, to hate it, but get completely swept up in the frenetic world of the bloodthirsty Fraternity. The word 'explosive' will be seen popping up all over the press this week. The film slaps you in the face and then relentlessly pummels you with action and violence throughout. Wanted is completely over the top, over produced and overly cheesy on the dialogue front – but isn't this exactly what we want from our summer blockbusters?
