We caught up with London based electro kings Uncle Buck after there storming set at Gatecrasher Summer Soundsystem. They were nice enough to record the banging set that had the thousands in attendance dancing the night away...
LK-Hi Uncle Buck, How are you and where are you?
UB- We are great, and situated in the good old north of london!
LK-Can you tell us a bit about your musical background and musical
Influences?
UB- Yeah. We both went to music school and started out playing traditional
instruments and then, over time, the turn tables took over!!
LK- What are your views on the current state of dance music in the UK?
UB- In many ways its healthier than ever before, but at the same time I
think you have to look harder to find the cool stuff and the people who
are pushing things forward and not just copying the lastest trend, as
things get old so quickly now!
Also there are more nights then ever at the moment so thats great for
DJ's and the scene as a whole!
LK- You played Gatecrasher festival this year sandwiched between some big names, tell us a bit about that?
UB- Mad. It was great fun there was a massive crowd which always
helps... i think probably our biggest we've had in England...oh and the
people at the festival were mad!!
LK-You played a storming set at glastonbury last year, do you prefer the more dance orientated festivals to gigs like glastonbury?
UB- Both have there good and bad points - but i'd say glastonbury...
theres just so much to do over that weekend - its more like a weird
holiday camp.
LK-What are your favorite hang outs in London?
UB- Probabaly Together club...we played a few times when it was at Turnmills
(RIP) and had some great times there! For something a bit darker we love
the vibe of Fabric & perhaps a special mention for Hoxton Bar and Grill
which is a great place to catch hot bands.
LK- What Artists/tracks should we be looking out for in the future?
UB- Definitely The Cool Kids, Fake Blood, Autokratz, Boy - 8 Bit, Holy Fuck
and the new EBW10 by The Chemical Brothers is going to be pretty huge we
think.
